This condensed style, often requested for narrow columns retains the traditional proportions of the long ascenders and descenders of the original typeface created in 1986.
The inspiration for the original typeface family came from my childhood experiences in the 1960s at Monkton, amidst an historic part of Somerset in the South West of England. Its name honours not only the area where the original alphabet was conceived and drawn, but also the people responsible for fostering my initial interest in letters. This was to inform my formative years in type design.
