Monkton Aged®
Designed by Adrian Williams 2020

Created in 1986, the inspiration for this typeface family came from my childhood experiences in the 1960s at Monkton, amidst an historic part of Somerset in the South West of England. Its name honours not only the area where the original alphabet was conceived and drawn, but also the people responsible for fostering my initial interest in letters. This was to inform my formative years in type design.

This aged style lends itself to ink-pressed lettering on rough paper — ideal for evoking historic documents of the Medæval period.
