As the name suggests, a newspaper inspired style for smaller point size use. The original Monkton typeface from1986 came from my childhood experiences in the 1960s at Monkton, amidst an historic part of Somerset in the South West of England. Its name honours not only the area where the original alphabet was conceived and drawn, but also the people responsible for fostering my initial interest in letters. This was to inform my formative years in type design.
